Sections of Yuraygir National Park will be periodically closed between Tuesday 11 August and Friday 11 September 2026 for aerial drone spraying operations on Angourie Backbeach.
The area to be treated has bitou infestations that are not accessible using other treatment methods. Bitou will be targeted along the cliff line along Angourie Backbeach. This program is part of a systematic weed control program throughout Yuraygir National Park. Bitou bush will be sprayed by drone with the herbicide Metsulfuron methyl 600g/kg.
The operations are weather dependent. Sections of the Yuraygir Coastal Walk and Angourie Backbeach will be closed for short periods. Neither Angourie or Mara Creek Day Use areas will be closed.

Closed areas: Remote areas of park closed for aerial shooting for feral animal control
Western sections of Yuraygir National Park and Yuraygir State Conservation Area are closed from 6am, Monday 24 August to 6pm, Friday 28 August 2026 for aerial shooting for feral animal control.
This program aims to reduce the significant impact pest animals have on native plants and animals, including threatened species.
Closed areas will be sign posted at primary management trail entrances.
All coastal visitor facilities including campgrounds, day use areas and walking tracks will remain open.

These essential works are implemented by NPWS under the Fire Access Fire Trails (FAFT) program.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program in Bundjalung National Park from 24th September 2025 to 24th September 2026.
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes. Its designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The operations are weather dependent. The site will be closed for a period of up to 4 hours. This work will not affect the camping areas.

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.

Bundjalung National Park visitors may experience loud aircraft noise until further notice. RAAF training operations from the nearby Evans Head Air Weapons Range may be heard and seen from the Black Rocks campground and Jerusalem Creek paddle route and walking track.
