NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Tuesday 21 July 2026 to Monday 21 December 2026. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.
The program will take place in:
- Comerong Island Nature Reserve
- Conjola National Park
- Meroo National Park
- Murramarang National Park
- Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve
- Seven Mile Beach National Park.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially nesting threatened shorebird species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Pretty Beach campground and cabins closed
Pretty Beach campground and cabins in Murramarang National Park are closed for maintenance from Tuesday 28 July to Friday 7 August 2026.

Closed areas: Area closed for pest control operation
Areas of Murramarang National Park may be closed to the public from 5pm to 7am between Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August 2026 for ground shooting targeting feral animals.
The closed areas are:
- Pretty Beach campground
- Pretty Beach picnic area
- Snapper Point lookout
- The Murramarang South Coast Walk between Pretty Beach and Pebbly Beach
These areas will be open to members of the public from 7am to 5pm each day during this time period.
This operation will involve the ground shooting of rabbits and foxes at night to reduce environmental and cultural heritage impacts and for the protection of threatened shorebirds.
Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area during closure times. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods Penalties apply for non-compliance.
