Other planned events: Notice of 1080 Ground Baiting Program – Macquarie Marshes Nature Reserve

1080 ground baiting activities targeting foxes and other feral animals will commence across Macquarie Marshes Nature Reserve from Saturday 1st August to Tuesday 1st September 2026.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of feral animals on neighbouring stock. Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Evening and night ground shoot operations targeting feral cats will occur across Macquarie Marshes and Ginghet Nature Reserves from Wednesday 2nd to Saturday 5th September 2026. Macquarie Marshes and Ginghet Nature Reserves are closed to the public, which applies during the period of the ground shoot operation. There is no impact to tourist attractions across the general Macquarie Marshes area.
