Yarrangobilly Caves thermal pool

Yarrangobilly Caves: Thermal Pool walk is in the northern area of Kosciuszko National Park. To get there:

From the Monaro Highway:

• At Cooma, take the Snowy Mountains Highway and continue for approximately 110km.
• Turn left into Yarrangobilly Caves Entrance Road.
• Follow the unsealed road for approximately 6km to Yarrangobilly Caves.
• Continue past the visitor centre and keep left at the first junction.
• After about 250m, turn right and follow to the end.

From the Hume Highway:

• At Gundagai, take the Tumut exit and follow Gocup Road to Tumut.
• Continue on Snowy Mountains Highway south for approximately 75km.
• Turn right into Yarrangobilly Caves Entrance Road.
• Follow the unsealed road for approximately 6km to Yarrangobilly Caves.
• Continue past the visitor centre and keep left at the first junction.
• After about 250m, turn right and follow to the end.

Road quality

• Yarrangobilly Caves entrance and exit roads are graded gravel. They're suitable for 2WD and 4WD vehicles up to 12.5m in length, however Transport for NSW advise that the roads are unsuitable for caravans.
• Transport for NSW recommends snow chains are carried by all vehicles driving in the park in winter, including 4WD and AWD, in case of extreme weather. Visit the Live Traffic website for road conditions.

Parking

Parking is available at Thermal Pool carpark. Please note park entry fees apply for vehicles without a Kosciuszko National Park day pass or All Parks annual pass.

Bus parking is available – contact the visitor centre on 02 6454 9597 for access.

There are change rooms near the picnic area at the top of a set of stairs with a rail. There is also an accessible change room that can be accessed via a gently sloping concreted path with a flat section about halfway. There are no shower facilities at the pool.

There is one accessible toilet at the picnic area accessible via a concrete path.

There is one accessible picnic table set on a concrete slab. You'll need to leave the pathway and cross over hard-packed ground and grass to reach it. There are 3 sheltered picnic tables.

Disability access level - hard

• Access to the pool is by Yarrangobilly Thermal Pool track which is a 700m walk from the carpark along a paved road that is very steep. There is a single resting point about 200m from the top.
• There is a ramp with a handrail to help people get in and out of the pool.
• Picnic tables are on concrete surrounded by grass or natural surfaces.
• There is an accessible change room and toilet that you can reach by a gently sloping concrete path with a flat section about halfway.
