Lyrebird Lane is closed to vehicle access.
Lyrebird Lane will be closed to vehicle access on Monday 17th August 2026 from 7am to 5pm. This closure is due to line marking and traffic calming devices being installed. Pedestrian access to the Lyrebird link walking track will remain open and parking is available at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. Temporary access to all walks is via a short steep detour (18 degrees or 1 in 3) and is unsuitable for mobility impaired visitors and prams. NPWS will be making improvements to the campground, walking tracks and signage upgrades as well as installing a new pedestrian bridge.
During this time, visitors to Oxley Wild Rivers NP can still access other visitor precincts, such as Long Point, Gara Gorge, Wollomombi Falls, and for the more adventurous, Riverside or Halls Peak. The Lyrebird Link ramp to the walking tracks from the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre has been closed to address safety risks. Temporary access to the walks via a short steep detour (18 degrees or 1 in 3) is unsuitable for mobility impaired visitors and prams. The Dorrigo Rainforest Centre will be temporarily closed from Monday 10 August to Thursday 20 August 2026.
The centre will reopen in a new location at 100 Lyrebird Lane on 21 August 2026. You can access the new centre from the existing Dorrigo Rainforest Centre entry off Dome Road. It is approximately 1km down Lyrebird Lane at The Glade picnic area.

There is an additional access to the Wonga walk. This access track is a 2-minute walk from the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre, along Lyrebird Lane.
The temporary access track is surfaced with non-slip rubber mat. Please note that the track is steep and uneven in sections, making it unsuitable for prams, wheelchairs and other mobility aids.

Bindarray Picnic Area is closed to the public from Monday 6 July to Monday 3rd August due to construction works.
There will be no access possible via vehicle or pedestrians during this time.
The closed area is from the gate at the northern end of Jersery Bull Rd (near junction with Pine Rd) and south to Bindarray Picnic Area.
There is no change to any access to Pine Rd.
Construction of a new pedestrian suspension bridge across the Urumbilium River near Bindarray Picnic Area will provide improved access to the site once works are completed.
This project is part of the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk, which will provide a new public walking track from Dorrigo Rainforest Centre to Bindarray Picnic Area.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program in Susan Island Nature Reserve Area from 1 January to 33 August 2026.
The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes.
The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.
Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs).
Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

The timber bridge which provides access from Urumbilum Falls Carpark east across Urumbilum Creek to the Urumbilum Falls Day Use Area is closed.
This closure is necessary due to the surface fill on this elevated timber bridge eroding, causing it to be unsafe for walkers.
For alternate access, options are to use the shallow road ford adjacent (only in times of low water flow), or alternatively consider the flagged walking track to access Urumbilum Falls.
NPWS will be rerouting and improving the walking track access to Urumbilum Falls as part of the Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk over the next two years. This project is already planned and funded, with on-ground work underway in other sectors.
