Muogamarra open season 2026

Muogamarra Nature Reserve is open for only 6 weeks, from 15 August to 20 September 2026. Located just north of Sydney, near Cowan, it's perfect for a weekend day trip.

The reserve is a paradise of rare native wildflowers. Enjoy expansive views of Bar, Milson and Spectacle islands, Berowra Creek and the Hawkesbury River. Join a guided walk to Peats Bight, Bird Gully, Lloyd Trig and Deerubbin.

Remember to book online before you arrive. You can only visit if you've booked a guided or self-guided tour in advance.

Muogamarra highlights walk

SOLD OUT. Join this 3km guided walk in Muogamarra Nature Reserve, near Cowan. You'll learn about John Tipper's foresight in securing this beautiful area for future generations. We'll stop at some amazing views.

Two tours will be running each day on the following dates:

  • 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 August 2026
  • 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20 September 2026 

Tour times:

  • 10am to 12pm. Meet at the Muogamarra Nature Reserve visitor centre by 9.45am
  • 1pm to 3pm. Meet at the Muogamarra Nature Reserve visitor centre by 12.45pm

Gates opens at 8.30am and close at 4.30pm.

Muogamarra Peats Bight guided walk

SOLD OUT. On this challenging 10km full-day walk in Muogamarra Nature Reserve, near Cowan, you'll hear about Peats Crater's amazing geological features.

Muogamarra Lloyd Trig and Deerubbin loop walk

SOLD OUT. Enjoy this 6.6km guided walk to Deerubbin lookover via Lloyd Trig. Discover extraordinary places 180m above sea level, with spectacular views out to the Hawkesbury River and distant Barrenjoey Lighthouse.

Muogamarra Bird Gully guided walk

SOLD OUT. Walk 3.5km along Bird Gully track around the edge of a hanging swamp in Muogamarra Nature Reserve, near Cowan. Bring your camera to photograph the gorgeous flowers in this amazing reserve.
